Pastels are a very special medium.

They can be textured or soft depending on the papers, pastels and technique used by the artist. A pastel drawing is often referred to as a painting due to its ability to look similar to the brush strokes and blendable nature of paints. A portrait is a timeless tribute to a beloved person or animal. A family portrait, a deceased pet, a newborn baby. Whoever it is that you cherish, a portrait can bring a smile for many years and turn a house in to a home.

All prices include work, materials, delivery via Royal Mail's Tracked 24 service with signature (UK), and a digital copy of your portrait to use on social media.

These prices are for bust (head and shoulders) portraits. I am unable to offer discounts as these prices are based on the amount of time each portrait takes to create. Thank you for understanding. Payment can be made in full prior to beginning the commission via PayPal or Bank Transfer. I will send instructions when we have finalised the necessary details.

For international postage prices, portraits at a larger size, full body portraits and portraits including a background, please contact me for a bespoke quote.

In the event that I am unable to take on further portraits during a busy period, or you cannot find an appropriate photograph for a secret giftee, I offer gift vouchers. Your giftee can use this to cover part or whole cost of a portrait. The gift voucher is A6 in size. Postage is £1 in the UK and £2 abroad.

The Commission Process

For many the process of commissioning an artist is a mysterious one, so I have put together a step by step guide to demystify that process.

Choosing the right Photograph

It can be difficult to know exactly which photograph is 'the one'. In the age of smart phones we always have a camera at our finger tips, our virtual photo albums packed full of so many options. But what makes a good reference photograph for a portrait?

Choosing the Size

Size matters! At least, it does when it comes to portraits. There are pros and cons to any size and which you choose will depend on a number of factors.

"I would recommend Nicola as her art work speaks for itself. She has an image that you send her and she responds beautifully with a keen eye and brings that image to life. I took a chance and I am so so glad that I did. A truly wonderful artist."

Rachel Jefferies

"Absolutely delighted with both of the drawings Nicola produced for me. I told her what I was after, sent her some photos and her drawings were perfect I’m so happy with them and so were my children who got them as presents for Christmas! Thank you Nicola"

Gemma Dawber

"Highly recommend Nicola, great communication and fantastic artist. I had a portrait of my sisters dog done for Christmas and it was amazing. Thank you."

Lorna Stone

"Absolutely stunning pieces of art! Nicola captures the character of my cat so effortlessly that the picture looks real. I was so impressed with the colour picture she did I commissioned her for a second one but with a different pose. Many many thanks"

Francesca Buckley

(In regards to the drawings) "Nicola recommended how best to frame them! She also kept me updated on their progress and sent me pictures of them before she sent them. They were so reasonably priced and I wouldn’t hesitate to use her business again! Thank you so much Nicola"
